The Trussville Fire and Rescue High Angle Rope Rescue Team consists of 18 members from both the paid and volunteer departments.  All members are trained to the Rescue Technician: Rope Rescue standard through the Alabama Fire College.

The type of rescue service the team could be called upon to perform includes rescues from water towers, bridges and overpasses, and buildings.  The overall goal of the team is to get the victim safely to the ground where more appropriate medical care can be administered.

The type of equipment the team uses includes all types of rappelling and climbing equipment such as ropes and harnesses, pulleys, lowering and raising systems, helmets, gloves, Reeves Sleeves, SKED Stretchers, and Stokes Baskets.

The team maintains its skills by training around the station and also at quarterly training events.  This type of training includes tying knots, building the lowering and raising systems, performing “pick offs” at the training tower, and administering medical care to a patient while in a stokes basket.
