The City of Trussville and the Trussville Fire Department enforces the 2003 International Building Code, the 2003 International Fire Code, the 2003 International Residential Code and the 2003 NFPA Life Safety Code. The city also enforces a Garage Suppression System ordinance which allows an exception to the International Building Code. This ordinance allows automatic sprinkler systems in the garage/basement area or 1 hr. rated ceiling assembly.

The Trussville Fire Department reviewed the existing sprinkler ordinance and revised it to include all multi-family structures.
