The Fire Chief's Office

Russell A. Ledbetter
Fire Chief
E-Mail
Mayor Gene Melton appointed Russell A. Ledbetter to the position of Fire
Chief in 1998. At the time the Trussville Fire Department had no paid
firefighters, and had only one fire station. Since that time the fire
department has hired 29 full time firefighters, 15 of which are licensed
paramedics. There are currently three fully manned fire stations. The
Trussville Fire Department has recently expanded it's Administrative and
Training Facility. Prior to the arrival of Chief Ledbetter the fire
department had only volunteer firefighters that were only trained with
firefighting and EMS skills. We now have career and volunteer firefighters
alike that are trained in many technical rescue fields (see our "Tech.
Rescue" page for more info), including other public service disciplines such
as Child Passenger Safety Technicians. Chief Ledbetter has promoted the
growth of the Trussville Fire Department as the great City of Trussville
grows, and it is a major objective to continue this growth within the
Trussville Fire Department.
