Trussville Volunteer Fire Department began its Christmas For Kids organization 28 years ago, 1979. In its conception, the philosophy “to help needy families within the Trussville community provide Christmas for their children, where otherwise there would be none” was adopted and we still adhere to it to this day. Last year alone, we were able to help over 100 families provide for over 200 children and expect for that number to be met or exceeded this year. We are capable of providing for these families thanks to the donations, both monetary and toys, given by our very generous local merchants and community members.
In addition to helping families during the Christmas season, we provide school supplies for the children, as well as, pay for them to attend class field trips that would otherwise not be possible. We, also, provide lunch money at Paine Primary, Paine Intermediate and Hewitt Middle Schools for children who forget or loose their lunch money; therefore, allowing them to eat lunch with their class. Christmas For Kids helps in many other community service areas such as buying the necessities after a house fire or helping people stranded on the side of the road without the means to pay for assistance.

Monday, November 5th – Begin Taking Applications (by appointment only)
Friday, November 16th – Last Day For Taking Applications
Monday, November 26th – Begin Notification Of Accepted Families
Sunday, December 16th – Give Out “Goodies”
Tuesday, December 25th - CHRISTMAS
