The Trussville Fire & Rescue Department is extremely proud to be a sponsor of
Honor Flight Birmingham.

On May 7, 2009, 104 World War II veterans and 67 Guardians took off from Birmingham to Baltimore. From BWI Airport they took a bus to see the WW II memorial. World War II was the bloodiest war in American History. Some 400,000 service men lost their lives. These Veterans have waited over half a century for their country to honor them with a memorial, and in 2004 it was finally opened.

On average 1200 WW II veterans die
each day, and time is running out for them to see their memorial. Honor Flight takes the veterans and provides a guardian, absolutely free to the veteran, and takes them to the memorial. It makes for a long day, but it is worth every second.
